1. Recognition in (e-)volunteering
Recognising volunteering is a way of rewarding and showing appreciation for taking part in volunteering activities. Considering that motivation can be intrinsic or extrinsic, the fact that the work as volunteers is recognised plays a fundamental role in enhancing extrinsic motivation. Acknowledging the efforts and the quality time spent helps to maintain a level of motivation that, in case of difficult moments when the intrinsic motivation is weakening, helps to find a purpose to the task of participating in volunteering.
In addition, recognising the tasks performed as a volunteer encourages competency-based volunteering by valuing the quality of the tasks and of the contributions—digital in the case of e-volunteering.
